Physical Therapy
Staff with 80+ Years of Experience Helping Patients Overcome Physical Limitations
Physical therapy is crucial for recovery after an injury or illness that prevents you from performing everyday activities. Often, physical therapy patients have functional limitations as a result of post-operative pain, but any kind of impairment can cause mobility challenges. We understand how frustrating and difficult this experience is – but there is a way forward.
Why Do I Need Physical Therapy Services?
FMDH wants to put you back in motion. Physical therapy is a type of rehabilitative care designed to help patients of all ages and diagnoses. The point of physical therapy is to restore independence and enjoy a better quality of life. Patients typically have orthopedic injuries, meaning those that affect the bones, joints, muscles, cartilage, and connective tissues. We also see patients with neurological disorders such as cerebrovascular accidents, brain and spinal cord injuries, and pediatric patients. Our licensed, experienced physical therapist will help treat your pain through an active, hands-on approach. They will help you find new ways to maintain your fitness level and improve coordination.
The type of physical therapy you need depends on your individual needs and concerns. You may be referred to a physical therapist by your primary care doctor, orthopedic specialist, surgeon, or another physician. Your physical therapist will help improve your mobility, manage pain, recover from an injury or surgery, and more.
Treatment Techniques we use
We offer treatment through exercise and movement but also manual therapy, kinesio-taping and dry needling. Physical therapists are trained in massage, exercise, and cold/heat therapy to strengthen muscles and restore mobility. We use evidence-based techniques with an emphasis on treatment techniques that are proven to work both from research and our own experience in the outpatient physical therapy clinic.
