Registration Changes FAQ

Why is FMDH changing the check-in and registration process for Specialty Care?
FMDH is making these changes to create a better experience for patients—one that is more accurate, efficient, and less stressful. Staffing challenges and high call volumes have made it harder to answer phones quickly and complete registrations smoothly. This new approach helps FMDH better serve patients today while preparing for future growth.

What does this mean for a patient’s appointment?
Most registration information will be gathered when the appointment is scheduled. This helps make check-in on the day of the visit quicker and more convenient.

Will patients still check in when they arrive?
Yes! Specialty Care patients, including Orthopedics, General Surgery, OB/GYN & Med Spa, will check in with Laboratory & Radiology when they arrive. The process will be much shorter and easier since most information will already be on file.

Is the check-in location changing?
Specialty Care patients, including Orthopedics, General Surgery, OB/GYN & Med Spa, will check in with Laboratory & Radiology for their appointment. Clear signage and helpful staff will be available to guide them every step of the way.

Will walk-in Laboratory patients be affected?
No, walk-in Laboratory patients can expect the same simple check-in process they’re used to.

Will it be easier to reach someone by phone?
Yes, more staff focused on answering phones and scheduling appointments, patients should notice fewer missed calls, shorter wait times, and better overall communication.

Do patients need to do anything differently?
Patients are simply encouraged to provide complete and accurate information when scheduling their appointment. This small step helps ensure a smooth, quick check-in when they arrive.
